Project Description
During the course of my MAWRM program, I was hired as a marketing graduate assistant for the Department of Industrial Engineering. Like many departments at Clemson University, the department lacked a communications director, and wanted to grow its social media presence and strengthen its brand to market their programs more effectively. Due to my background and courses I had studied so far in the MAWRM program, I was hired to manage their social media accounts and update and edit their website content along with additional communications responsibilities.
In this position, I’ve been tasked across a variety of projects, fields, and positions, requiring that I perform a number of roles at any given time to improve the experience of students, faculty, and alumni. Currently, I perform the following:
- I write and maintain a blog of human-interest and award stories. I also serve as the website content editor.
- I serve as an information architect, working with the Department Chair to overhaul all website content and redesign page structures using the Cascade Server and html.
- I am the social media manager for the department, posting approved content on five platforms, interacting with followers, and growing the accounts.
- I create flyers, brochures, marketing materials, and social media graphics for the department
- I product and edit videos for the department at the request of the department chair.
- I photograph events for the department
This assistantship has provided me with the opportunity to put my rhetorical background into all areas of my work. As a result, I would like to showcase some of those projects, as they demonstrate how I can apply the competencies from my graduate program into tangible deliverables outside of coursework.
